Easy sudoku is designed so every move can be found with two basic techniques: naked singles (a cell where only one number fits) and hidden singles (a number that fits only one cell in a row, column or box). You should never need pencil marks or guessing.

How long should easy sudoku take?

Most players finish easy sudoku in 3 to 8 minutes. With regular practice you can drop below three minutes. Speed is not the point. Easy mode is for warming up and learning to scan efficiently.

What if I get stuck on an easy sudoku?

If you are stuck on an easy puzzle, you have probably missed a hidden single. Pick a digit from 1 to 9 and check each row, column and 3x3 box. If there is only one cell in that group where the digit fits, place it there.
